Paprika is the basis for many traditional Hungarian dishes such as goulash and paprikash. It can range from sweet (mild) to hot, but the sweet variety is the most common and sought-after. Our Hungarian sweet paprika has a lovely, delicate flavour and a deep red colour.
We also offer a hot Hungarian Paprika that is custom blended in Szeged, Hungary to our particular heat preference (20,000 SHU).
Our Spanish paprika comes from La Vera, Spain, which produces the very best handmade paprikas. In La Vera, paprika is made from peppers that are slowly dried over an oak-burning fire in a drying house, a process that gives this paprika its characteristic smoky flavour.
We sell three varieties of La Vera Spanish smoked paprika: Sweet, Bittersweet, and Hot. Spanish paprika is essential to romesco sauce, sofrito, paella, chorizo, and many other traditional Spanish dishes.
The American Spice Trade Association (ASTA) gives ratings to paprikas based on extractable colour, and this paprika is highly rated, which makes it ideal for adding a warm reddish tone to food. It has a mild and sweet flavour without a lot of depth.
Mix some of this paprika with a bit of water to extract the colour before adding it to your dish. This is also a great paprika to use forfinishing and garnishing.

The recent labour dispute at Canada Post has made shipping more complicated for us than it used to be. At the moment, we are using a variety of smaller couriers and shipping companies (in addition to Canada Post) to deliver our packages. While this is working well for the most part, there are some inevitable implications.
For one thing, we can't say in advance what company your package will ship with. This is determined at the moment of shipping based on your location and other factors. Next, the delivery times and updates may not be as predictable with all couriers as they are with Canada Post. And lastly, if you use a PO box or are in the Territories or a more rural location, Canada Post may be the only option.
A tentative deal has been struck between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, but until it is official and normal operations are stable and predictable, we thank you for your patience and understanding.
