Basil is one of the most commonly used herbs in the world. The vast majority of dried basil available in Canada is grown in Egypt. This Egyptian (or Mediterranean) basil is mild and has a slight anise flavour. If you are looking for something a little more interesting, we recommend California basil. This basil is more expensive than the Mediterranean variety, but we think it is well worth the price because of its amazing colour and flavour. Our California basil is purchased in small amounts directly from California and is quick-dried using an advanced dehydration process. The leaves are coarsely cut and have a strong, sweet flavour.
